World Tourism Month: prepare to welcome the world!

September is Tourism Month and Cape Town Tourism – through its Live It! Love It! LOUDER! campaign – is encouraging all Capetonians to get ready to welcome the world in 2010 by experiencing for themselves the rich diversity of their city this month.

The organisation has, among other things, launched an exciting new mini-site to celebrate World Tourism Month.

The mini-site includes:

• A World Tourism Month blog – keep up with the latest tourism news
World Tourism Month specials – take advantage of these fantastic offers
• A poll – tell us why you think Cape Town is a premier tourism destination
• A World Tourism Month competition – stand a chance to win R15 000!

What it’s all about?

World Tourism Month will be celebrated all over the world, with festivities culminating on September 27 – World Tourism Day. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the international celebration and the theme is “Tourism – celebrating diversity”.

Where better to do this than in South Africa’s Mother City, with its reputation as a free-spirited, cosmopolitan melting pot of cultures?

As a host city for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, it’s even more important that we celebrate our diversity as we prepare to welcome the world.

Cape Town Tourism will be hosting a number of exciting events and festivities in the lead-up to World Tourism Day on September 27. Click here to see a calendar of the events being hosted by visitor information centres around the Mother City.

World Tourism Month specials

Cape Town Tourism and its members are offering a variety of fabulous specials during World Tourism Month. Whether it’s to sleep, treat, explore , or eat and drink, don’t miss these special offers, which are valid until the end of September.

Live it. Love it. LOUDER!

Cape Town Tourism CEO Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold says, “We are going to be the centre of a convergence of cultures during next year’s 2010 FIFA World Cup. This celebration of diversity in tourism is the perfect opportunity to embrace the cultural differences that exist in our own backyard and to see a Cape Town beyond the one we experience during our day-to-day lives.”
